The benefits experienced from plant based eating and living a vegan lifestyle prompts a lot of emotion and enthusiasm in people. (i.e. starting a blog!) 😉 We are excited to share our experiences and how our lives have changed for the better. We want to know the health, environmental, and ethical advantages of veganism! So, here are 26 of my favorite quotes on veganism. I hope you find as much inspiration as I do. 💗

“Some people think the plant based whole foods diet is extreme. Half a million people a year will have their chests opened up and a vein taken from their leg and sewn on their coronary artery. Some would call that extreme.” -Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, physician and author of Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease

“There are two types of cardiologists: vegans and those who haven’t read the data.” -Dr. Kim Williams, cardiologist

“The beef industry has contributed to more American deaths than all the wars of this century, all natural disasters, and all automobile accidents combined. If beef is your idea of ‘real food for real people,’ you’d better live real close to a real good hospital.” -Neal D. Barnard, physician and president of The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine

“People eat meat and think they will become strong as an ox, forgetting that the ox eats grass.” -Pino Caruso, Italian actor

“[There are] four major issues. There is a global problem that we can’t support the number of livestock. There are the human health issues around eating red and processed meat, which is associated with heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Then you have to look at the effect on climate, natural resources and the sheer volume of water it takes to keep livestock. Lastly, there’s animal welfare.” -Ethan Brown, founder and CEO of Beyond Meat

“Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.” -Hippocrates

“In the world of medicine, if I put you on a pill, I can see you every three months for the rest of your life. That’s how we make money in medicine. If I put you on a plant based diet and you get better, I probably won’t see you again.” -Dr. James Bennie, physician

“The most ethical diet just so happens to be the most environmentally sound diet and just so happens to be the healthiest.” -Dr. Michael Greger, physician and author of How Not To Die

“Genetics loads the gun, lifestyle pulls the trigger.” -Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn

“At this point, any scientist, doctor, journalist, or policy maker who denies or minimizes the importance of a whole food, plant-based diet for individual and societal well-being simply isn’t looking clearly at the facts. There’s just too much good evidence to ignore anymore.” -T. Colin Campbell, biochemist and author of The China Study and Whole

“This is a message to all those out there who think that you need animal products to be fit and strong. Almost two years after becoming vegan, I am stronger than ever before, and I am still improving day by day.” -Patrik Baboumian, strongman competitor and athlete

“One thing you can do to tread more gently on Mother Earth is to eat a whole, plant-based diet.” -Sharon Palmer, Registered Dietitian

“Raising animals for food generates more greenhouse gases than all the cars and trucks in the world combined.” -United Nations, 2006 report

“Becoming vegan is the most important and direct change we can immediately make to save the planet and its species.” -Chris Hedges, journalist

“We all know by now that our planet is in deep trouble. We have abused it horribly, and we are paying the price. It’s time to try to do what we can, both as individuals and collectively; to find better and kinder ways to live. It’s not our right; it’s our responsibility. We are all guilty. We can all change.” -Jared Leto, actor

“If you think that being vegan is difficult, imagine being a factory farmed animal.” -Davegan Raza, animal rights activist

“Cows scream louder than carrots.” -Alan Watts, philosopher

“If slaughterhouses had glass walls, we’d all be vegetarian.” -Paul McCartney, musician

“My body will not be a tomb for other creatures.” Leonardo Di Vinci

“I think we’ve become very disconnected from the natural world. Many of us are guilty of an egocentric worldview, and we believe that we’re the center of the universe. We go into the natural world and we plunder it for its resources. We feel entitled to artificially inseminate a cow and steal her baby, even though her cries of anguish are unmistakable. Then we take her milk that’s intended for her calf and we put it in our coffee and our cereal.” -Joaquin Phoenix, actor

“The Gods created certain kinds of beings to replenish our bodies; they are the trees and the plants and the seeds.” -Plato

“I personally chose to go vegan because I educated myself on factory farming and cruelty to animals, and I suddenly realized that what was on my plate were living things, with feelings. And I just couldn’t disconnect myself from it any longer.” -Ellen DeGeneres, celebrity

“You choose what you eat, you choose the world.” -Elysabeth Alfano, podcaster and YouTube host

“God said: ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.’” Genesis 1:29

(In the Bible, animals were not eaten by humans until after the fall of man and sin came into the world. God said in Genesis 9:3, “Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.”)

I personally choose to eat a plant based diet and live a vegan lifestyle for a multitude of health, environmental, and ethical reasons. Additionally, I now choose to live the life that God originally intended for us to live-relying solely on plant food to sustain me and help me thrive. ❤️
